Sub station explosion knocks out power in Eastbourne

Dozens of homes were left without power in Eastbourne last night following an explosion at an electricity sub station.

Firefighters were called to the building in Churchdale Road at 6pm last night (July 18) although there were no reports of any injuries.

Crews remained on scene to ensure public safety along with Sussex Police while UK Power were called to assess the damage.

A number of homes are still without electricity this morning.
